USC's Ostrow School of Dentistry is seeking a Dental Assistant II to join its team.

Job Accountabilities:


  • Provides comprehensive skilled chairside assisting services during dental treatment procedures to faculty, doctoral dental students and post-doctoral students in a teaching clinic. Is capable of working independently with minimal technical guidance. May lead other dental assistants.

  • Provides comprehensive skilled chairside assisting services during treatment procedures to faculty, doctoral dental students and post-doctoral students in a teaching clinic..

  • Prepares treatment area for patients. Prepares and mixes materials. Preps patient. Assists with procedures. Monitors patient for complications.

  • Exposes and processes patient x-rays.

  • Assists students in collecting patient history, charting and treatment planning.

  • Sets up clinic and keeps disposable materials and medicaments in adequate supply for daily operation. Maintains a clean and orderly clinic at all times. Cleans and sterilizes instruments.

  • Reports equipment malfunctions and follows up with repair technicians as needed. Maintains equipment.

  • Maintains impressions, study models and various other dental appliances.

  • May assist with patient registration, appointment scheduling, billing, filing and other related clerical support duties as required.

  • Specialized/technical training

    3 years

    Three years chairside experience directly related to practice specialization. Valid CDA and California x-ray License. Knowledge of computers.

    Valid RDA and bilingual skills in English and Spanish.
