Clinical Instructor of Medicine (Practitioner) Nurse Practitioner

The Department of Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is seeking outstanding applicants to fill a Nurse Practitioner position in the Division of Medical Oncology.  The NP will work with attending physicians to provide oncology and hematology consultation and follow up services in the inpatient and outpatient setting, and may help with infusion center coverage. The NP will also care for oncology and hematology patients who are admitted to the hospital due to complications of their disorder, complications of their treatment, palliative care, or for chemotherapy.Common oncologic and hematologic diagnoses are breast cancer, lung cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, genitourinary cancer, gynecology cancer, head and neck cancer, leukemia, lymphoma, anemia, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia and coagulopathy.  Responsibilities of this position include complete/comprehensive history and physical examination, ordering and interpretation of diagnostic studies, and prescribing appropriate treatments in collaboration with the attending physician. Other responsibilities include consultation with specialist physicians and other team members regarding findings/changes in patient condition, initiation and adjustment of chemotherapy orders in collaboration with the physician, documentation of patient care/procedures per policy, and ensuring longitudinal communications with primary and referring providers regarding patient status.  Successful candidates will have strong clinical skills and interest in serving a diverse patient population.  We offer a highly competitive salary package with excellent benefits.  Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position will be hired as a clinical instructor.

Minimum Field of Expertise: Possession of current certificate of completion from a Nurse Practitioner program. Current and valid California State RN and Nurse Practitioner licenses, Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification, and Basic Cardiac Life Support certification. Oncology experience preferred.
