Keck Medicine of USC includes the Keck School of Medicine of USC, the region’s first medical school; the renowned USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of the first comprehensive cancer centers established by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States; the USC Care Medical Group, a medical faculty practice; the Keck Medical Center of USC, which includes two acute care hospitals: 401-licensed bed Keck Hospital of USC and 60-licensed bed USC Norris Cancer Hospital; and USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, a 158-licensed bed community hospital. It also includes more than 40 outpatient facilities, some at affiliated hospitals, in Los Angeles, Orange, Kern, Tulare and Ventura counties.

Clinical Informatics Liasion/Specialist - Clinical Applications - Full Time 8 Hour Days

USCKH - VHH Informatics Glendale, California

Minimum Education:

High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelors in Nursing or Informatics preferred.

Minimum Experience/Knowledge:

Minimum of 3 to 5 years of direct work experience in an acute care/ambulatory setting/

Experience evaluating and implementing hospital-wide informatics systems.

Adept at persuading and training physicians and staff to adopt new workflows and tools, requiring strong knowledge of change management.

Strong knowledge of systems analysis, workflow planning, gathering business requirements and transforming them into functional specifications.

Broad knowledge of hospital operations and associate technologies.

Excellent ability to translate technical terminology for consumption by non-technical audiences.

Knowledge of adult learning and training methods.

Good familiarity with project management, quality assurance, and information systems design.

Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.

Basic Information Technology understanding: database, hardware, software, data structures.

Strong organizational skills.

Ability to multi-task with multiple priorities and time frames.

Proficient in referencing, researching, reporting, tracking, and monitoring.

Experience in electronic medical record applications (Cerner preferred).

Experience in dictation/voice recognition systems preferred.

Required License/Certification:

Fire and Safety Certification.  If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date. 

Under the direction of the Clinical Informatics Manager, Clinical Applications, this individual will be accountable for development and implementation of education strategies, plans, and processes to support an exceptional on boarding and continued education of clinicians. S/he will be responsible for providing education for new and current clinicians and shall act as a point person between the clinicians and the IT department. This includes the primary responsibility of ensuring the timely onboarding of new physicians, and successful integration of clinical systems, access, training, and support processes. Clinical systems include, but are not limited to: PowerChart, Surginet, FirstNet, PowerChart Maternity, Footprints, Health Stream and other systems in use or future deployed. The Clinical Informatics Liaison Specialist works with the applications & training/support teams to develop and deploy best practices in Physician/LIP support for IT systems. Trains physician, physician extenders and other clinical staff on software and IT processes. S/he will work with staff and Physicians/LIPs to optimize the usage of clinical systems through education and training, quality outcomes, and providing support in accordance with organizational goals. The Clinical Informatics Liaison Specialist assists in the development, build, and implementation of current and future clinical information systems in collaboration with IT and other clinical or business departments across the organization to increase efficiencies and promote continuity of care through technology and workflow improvements.
