Keck Medicine of USC includes the Keck School of Medicine of USC, the region’s first medical school; the renowned USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of the first comprehensive cancer centers established by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States; the USC Care Medical Group, a medical faculty practice; the Keck Medical Center of USC, which includes two acute care hospitals: 401-licensed bed Keck Hospital of USC and 60-licensed bed USC Norris Cancer Hospital; and USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, a 158-licensed bed community hospital. Statement of Purpose:

Position assists the Physician in a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the realm of Endoscopy and other related invasive procedures.

Job Summary:

•Provides care with respect for human dignity and uniqueness of the patient, unrestricted by considerations of age, sex, religion, culture, social or economic status, personal attributes, or the nature of their health problem.

•Communicates pertinent procedural information to the circulating RN.

•Provides comfort and safety measures during positioning and throughout the procedure.

•The technician assumes responsibility and accountability for individual actions.

•Assembles appropriate supplies and equipment throughout the procedure.

•Maintains sterility.

•Counts instruments and any other potential foreign body with the circulating RN.

•Maintains and updates physician preference cards.

•Demonstrates ability to problem-solve within scope of knowledge and responsibility.

•Openly accepts guidance and constructive criticism.

•Practices cost-effective use of equipment and supplies.

•Facilitates an environment that promotes teamwork.

•Labels all medication syringes.

•Provides safe care according to recommended standards, VHH policies and procedures. •Appropriately cleans and processes instruments.

•Assists with orientation, support and education of new staff personnel

•Maintains confidentiality of patient information •Follows scheduled work time, not to exceed 6-8 days of unscheduled time off annually.
