The USC School of Pharmacy invites applications for a fulltime, 12-month per year, tenure track faculty position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level to conduct research and teaching in the Titus Family Department of Clinical Pharmacy.
This position seeks to combine quantitative modeling approaches with translational science, to integrate the generation of relevant and high-quality preclinical and clinical trials data with predictive quantitative approaches, to optimize the accurate translation between preclinical and clinical research. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing an independent research program in translational pharmacometrics, focused on integrating the optimization of preclinical data generation and data curating, using multi-scale modeling and predictive analytic approaches to develop and advance translational drug research. Teaching responsibilities include mentoring postdoctoral fellows, graduate and professional students, and teaching advanced coursework in pharmacometrics at the professional, graduate and postdoctoral level.
Building from our established programs in the department and across the school, the USC School of Pharmacy offers unique opportunities for interdisciplinary research. Within the Department, we have strengths in preclinical and clinical discovery, pharmacokinetics, pharmacometrics and pharmacogenomics, along with potential collaboration with regulatory science, pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacoeconomics colleagues. Routine faculty administration and participation duties, such as attendance at departmental and full faculty meetings and committee service, as well as annual review submissions and peer-to-peer teaching evaluations are expected.
A doctoral degree in pharmacy, systems or computational biology, pharmaceutical sciences, statistics/biostatistics, chemical/biomedical engineering, medicine or a closely related field, with aligned postdoctoral training.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Demonstrated expertise in pharmacometrics / quantitative pharmacology.
• An outstanding track record of obtaining extramural funding to support research; Senior-level faculty applicants are additionally expected to have an excellent and nationally / internationally acknowledged track record of publications and presentations in the relevant field.
• Portfolio of superior / innovative teaching and mentoring at the graduate and postdoctoral levels.
• A formulated approach to develop an extramurally funded research program in pharmacometrics / quantitative pharmacology / translational sciences.
• Prior academic, regulatory or industry research experience is preferred, and a demonstrated record of collaboration with basic, clinical and/or translational researchers.
• Prior examples of teaching experience, excellence and content and performance evaluations are requested. Qualified candidates will preferably have demonstrated experience or leadership in diversity and inclusion within their prior academic and professional work environments that they can bring to the education setting.
