The USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences is seeking an Assistant Dean for External Affairs. The largest and oldest of the USC schools, USC Dornsife functions as the academic core of the university, offering courses and advancing knowledge across the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences.
The Assistant Dean for External Affairs will manage and lead the events and programing staff and the alumni affairs team for the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. This will include working with alumni affairs staff to develop creative, new and interesting events that improve programing offerings and increase Dornsife alumni participation. The assistant dean will also manage the events team that plans and executes high quality events hosted and attended by the dean of the college, which will include external (advancement and alumni) and internal events within the university and college. Multiple Dornsife graduations in May are part of the events portfolio. Coordinating and maintaining a strong relationship with USC University events is essential.
The assistant dean will work with the dean and the senior associate dean of advancement to create novel and creative approaches to enhance the quality of all events.
Qualifications and Skills
Strategic planning, budget management, project management, with a strong ability to collaborate and to communicate effectively to leadership and key constituencies within and outside of the university. This job requires at least 10 years of experience in event planning, management and/or alumni affairs event planning.

Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related program management experience. Expert knowledge of field, teaching experience and/or active in research. Ability to manage sponsored projects and fundraise.
