Assistant Professor in African American Literature

English Faculty Los Angeles, California

The Department of English in the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in African American Literature. The department seeks a scholar who specializes in any historical period or form (including but not limited to fiction, film, digital media, poetry, or drama).  The department is especially interested in candidates whose scholarship will complement our existing strengths in American studies, transnational/diasporic studies, and ethnic literature. This position is expected to begin August 2020. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. at the time of appointment and show exceptional scholarly promise.
