Assistant Professor of Research Pediatrics CHLA (Division of Research on Children, Youth and Families)

The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California (USC) and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in the Department of Pediatrics in the Division of Research on Children, Youth and Families, are actively seeking a full time faculty member for the position of a Biostatistician to serve in the Biostatistics Core of the The Saban Research Institute (TSRI) at CHLA.

Responsibilities will include:

  • supporting investigators in the design of basic and applied research studies
  • conducting state-of-the-art power analyses for grant applications
  • designing, implementing, and supervising a wide range of statistical analyses for both a priori hypothesis testing and data mining
  • conducting investigator training courses in statistical methods

Minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. degree, at least 2 years of postdoctoral experience with advanced biostatistical techniques, superb written and verbal communication skill. The successful candidate will also be encouraged to continue pursuit of his or her own independent research interests. Applicants should have expertise in conducting sophisticated regression models, factor analysis, cluster and discriminant function analyses, growth curve analyses, repeated measures analyses, mediation, structural equation modeling, advanced methods for controlling Type I error, and techniques for graphically representing the findings from those analyses. Experience with machine learning and deep learning methods, as well as statistical analysis of imaging data, is desirable but not necessary.
