Budget Analyst

Cancer Center Los Angeles, California

Cancer Center Business Office is looking for a Budget Analyst to oversee the performance of approximately 250 Clinical Trials accounts. His/her duties includes:

Calculating PI and staff salaries that maybe charged to the clinical trials accounts. Provide Department Payroll Authorizations and Process Payroll Expense Transfers as necessary.

Create and manage Purchase Orders for temporary employees for the Clinical Investigations Support Office.

Create and monitor Sub-Contract Purchase Orders to outside agencies.

Provide overall grant management for and business analysis related to clinical trials, analysis expense trend and monitor account activities

Reconcile accounts to assure that all account activities are related to the clinical trials project and that is charged appropriately. Assisting in the completion of closeout procedures as necessary.

Report on month-end and annual profit and loss, generate monthly revenues and expense reports financial report, perform budget forecasting and YTD variation analysis and create ad hoc reports for senior management.

Work closely with study teams and Principal Investigators (PIs) as well as central campus offices, such as Sponsored Projects Accounting (SPA) and the Clinical Trials Office(CTO).

Maintain and update the CTO guidelines and procedures.

Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.


Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, combined experience/education as substitute for
Minimum experience: 1 year
Minimum Field of Expertise: Business administration, accounting or related degree and budget experience including knowledge of government and fund accounting. Strong computer skills with use of automated spreadsheets.
Preferred Field of Expertise: Prefer university budget experience and knowledge of university financial systems, Experience with clinical trials.
