Career Services Advisor

Career Development Los Angeles, California

The USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism is seeking a highly experienced and enthusiastic professional to join our high-performing team.

Reporting to the Director of Career Development, the Career Services Advisor counsels and advises undergraduate and graduate students as well as recent alumni representing multiple majors and industries.

Career related issues are varied and may include:

  • Selecting a major
  • Job search strategies
  • Developing a resume and cover letter
  • Securing an internship
  • Interview preparation
  • Networking

Job Accountabilities:

  • Determine the advising needs of individual students and develop an action plan.
  • Develop and conduct career workshops, moderate panel discussions and create structured activities for groups and individuals.
  • Plan and execute major career events for small and large groups
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external colleagues on campus and the employer community
  • Assist with Annenberg Career Link job postings (Symplicity platform)
  • Stays current on career development trends and technologies by actively engaging and presenting at professional workshops, seminars and conferences

Please Note: This position includes some evenings and weekends as well as additional duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

•  Master’s Degree in Student Affairs, Human Resources or related field

Experience:

• 2 years of related Career Services Counseling/Advisement experience in Higher Education

Candidate must possess excellent communication skills.
