Administrative Assistant II

Emergency Medicine Los Angeles, California

Who We Are:

The Department of Emergency Medicine is an autonomous clinical and academic department within the Keck School of Medicine of USC.  It has the responsibility for initial triage, evaluation, and management of a complete spectrum of adult medical and surgical problems at various campuses and facilities.  This includes an active Paramedic Base Station, Evaluation Treatment Center at Keck Hospital, Verdugo Hills Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, LAC USC Medical Center, the Hyperbaric Treatment Chamber on Catalina Island, and the Center for Life Support Training and Research.

The Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) is seeking a high-integrity Clinical Administrative Assistant II with strong clinical experience to support to the Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Good Samaritan Hospital. The Clinical Administrative Assistant II will perform diverse administrative assignments and tasks that will involve interaction with various levels of management and individuals internal and external to USC.

Primary job duties are as follows:

  • Responsible for the creation and management of the physician and APP schedule
  • Record and modify all shift swaps and changes
  • Ensure all shift modifications are communicated accurately and in a timely manner
  • Coordination of numerous departmental meetings/appointments
  • Assist Medical Director with medical charting and medical coding procedures
  • Serve as a departmental liaison between Good Samaritan Medical Staff and USC Keck’s credentialing office
  • Assist with resident onboarding procedures and managing their schedule
  • Support with various administrative duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Support physicians in clinical project, core measures, etc.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Have completed a 4-year degree
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and maintain a high level of professionalism
  • Strong computer skills and excellent knowledge of Excel
  • Deep experience performing work that requires analysis and problem-solving skills, independent judgment 
  • High level of confidentiality and maintain all medical information in accordance with HIPPA regulations
  • Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously and learn new tasks quickly
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time while using a computer
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience
  • Experience in health care setting

The position normally works a 40-hour work week and requires the incumbent to be on the job daily. Work schedule would be Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Posting Salary Range: Depends on experience.

3 years

Minimum Field of Expertise:
Secretarial or specialized clerical and administrative experience
