Clinical Asst Professor of Pediatrics (Part-Time)-GME-LAC+USC

The USC Keck School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics at LAC+USC Medical Center is seeking a part-time (50%) Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics.

Job Announcement: 

The Director of Graduate Medical Education Resident Wellness and the Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education are seeking a highly qualified individual to assist them in their expanding efforts to champion a healthy learning environment for residents/fellows at the Keck School of Medicine.  Our wellness efforts are dedicated to fostering the development of lifelong skills for achieving and maintaining optimal physical, mental, and spiritual health, while thriving in resident training and beyond. The individual will also act as a liaison to faculty and staff, provide guidance and support for residents and identify needs for program development. This faculty position is half-time with benefits and reports to the Director of GME Resident Wellness. 

Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Develop preventative programs to decrease the frequency of burnout while enhancing the mental health and wellness of the resident population.
  • Prevention and counseling programs for sexual assault/ harassment 
  • Teach mind-body skills, emotional intelligence, mindfulness practices to residents so they achieve and maintain physical, mental, and spiritual heath throughout their career.
  • Work with Resident Interest Groups to promote wellness programming.
  • Facilitate the residents’ access to medical and mental health services.
  • Participate on various committees to ensure that the resident wellness perspective is articulated, when appropriate.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops to address and mitigate tendencies toward addiction, assist with residents who have and are dealing with trauma, and mitigate reasons for burnout.
  • Provide individual and group therapy/coaching sessions for residents.


The candidate must have a master’s degree or Ph.D. in a mental health field and a license to conduct psychotherapy. The candidate must have at least five years of experience in providing counseling/therapy, strong communication skills and ideally experience serving as an advocate for medical residents. In addition, the candidate must have experience working with trauma, sexual assault/harassment, addiction, and facilitating groups.
