Keck Medicine of USC includes the Keck School of Medicine of USC, the region’s first medical school; the renowned USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of the first comprehensive cancer centers established by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States; the USC Care Medical Group, a medical faculty practice; the Keck Medical Center of USC, which includes two acute care hospitals: 401-licensed bed Keck Hospital of USC and 60-licensed bed USC Norris Cancer Hospital; and USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, a 158-licensed bed community hospital. Clinical Educator - Beverly Hills Clinic - Full Time 8 Hour Days

The diabetes nurse educator serves to assess, assist, and educate diabetic patients. Instruct patients on integrating diabetic medications with lifestyle, in order to achieve optimal diabetic control. Educate patients on complications of diabetes. Assist with psycho-social needs associated with diabetic management. Assist patients with utilization of latest technologies in the ongoing treatment of diabetes. Participate in individual and group education courses. Assist with the education of clinical staff and provide clinical input related to completing MD and patient requests. Develop programs for education of providers, work on referral and community outreach, explore opportunities to work collaboratively with other centers, assist with patient clinical research as needed.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; Master of Science in Nursing preferred

Minimum Experience/Knowledge:

Minimum two (2) years formal or informal experience in educator role.
Proficient in use of computer and applications such as Excel, Word, Powerpoint, internet access and utilization
Proficient in verbal, written, and graphic presentations.
Ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.
Ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients.
Ability to utilize effective, appropriate and diplomatic oral and written communication skills.
Experience in Clinical Research preferred
National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) CDC Certificed Diabetes Prevention Program Lifestyle Coach preferred
ADA program coordination and recognition preferred

Required License/Certification:

Valid California Registered Nursing License.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), required within six months of hire
National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) CDC Certified Diabetes Prevention Program Lifestyle Coach preferred
Fire and Safety Certification. If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
