Clinical Instructor of Medicine Part-Time (Oncology Practitioner)

The Department of Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is seeking outstanding applicants to fill a part-time weekend inpatient Advanced Practice Provider (APP - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) position in the Divisions of Medical Oncology and Hematology.  The hours for this position would be 8:00am-6:30pm on Saturday and Sunday.  The APP will care for patients with hematologic and oncologic diagnoses who are admitted to the hospital due to complications of their malignancy, complications of their treatment, palliative care, or for chemotherapy.Common cancer diagnoses are leukemia, lymphoma, sarcoma, testicular cancer, GI cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, and head/neck cancer.  Responsibilities of this position include complete/comprehensive history and physical examination, ordering and interpretation of diagnostic studies, perform bone marrow biopsies, and prescribing appropriate treatments in collaboration with the attending physician. Other responsibilities include consultation with specialist physicians and other team members regarding findings/changes in patient condition, initiation and adjustment of chemotherapy orders in collaboration with the physician, documentation of patient care/procedures per policy, and ensuring longitudinal communications with primary oncologist and referring providers regarding patient status.  Successful candidates will have strong clinical skills and interest in serving a diverse patient population.  We offer a highly competitive salary package with excellent benefits.  Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position will be hired as a clinical instructor.

Minimum Field of Expertise: Possession of current certificate of completion from a Nurse Practitioner program (must be Acute Care or Adult- Gerontology). Current and valid California State RN and Nurse Practitioner licenses, Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification, and Basic Cardiac Life Support certification. For Physician Assistant applicants, possession of current license as a Physician Assistant provider in the state of California. Oncology and Hematology inpatient experience preferred.

THIS IS A PRACTITIONER POSITION – You will not be teaching NP or PA students.
