Clinical Pharmacy Services Manager - Pharmacy - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Exempt) (Non-Union)

Under general supervision of the Director of Pharmacy Services, the Clinical Pharmacy Manager manages the clinical pharmacy program including developing, monitoring, evaluating and coordinating clinical pharmacy services that promote desirable patient outcomes. The Clinical Pharmacy Manager is responsible for collaborating with multidisciplinary team to assist with problem identification and resolution, cost containment issues, implementation of new clinical programs and protocols, and systems/ performance measures including attending committee meetings.  The position is responsible for formulary management and protocol development, policies, procedures, medication evaluation and the standardization of medical care for the department including peer review of pharmacy dosing protocols.  Other duties may include supervision of clinical activities and training of pharmacists, postgraduate residents and pharmacy students.

Minimum Education: • Pharm.D. degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy. • Completion of a PG1 residency program in a hospital setting preferred Minimum Experience/Knowledge: • Five (5) years of experience as a pharmacist in an Acute Care Hospital Pharmacy setting with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory/ lead role capacity. • Knowledgeable and experience in various areas of pharmacy, including but not limited to: operations, systems, technology, and personnel management. • Thorough knowledge of the modern principles, practices and concepts of pharmacology, and pharmacotherapeutics and its practical application. • Knowledge of the laws and regulations set forth by governmental and regulatory agencies that govern all aspects of operating a pharmacy service with a medical center. • Good knowledge of the principles and concepts of administration and management, especially as they relate to a large health care institution, including budget, finance, personnel, contracts, etc. • Demonstrated skill in planning, time management and organization. • Ability to work independently and adapt to a changing work environment. • Ability to implement new systems and procedures. • Demonstrated ability to make correct decisions in stressful situations. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to relate well to a broad spectrum of staff, physicians and patients; ability to effectively develop and present in-service modules. • Ability to think critically and analyze and solve problems. • Proficient knowledge and skills in computer and related/ applicable software. Required License/Certification: • Registration with California State Board of Pharmacy Board Certification • BLS for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association Certification • Fire and Safety Certification. If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
