Credit Union - Human Resources Manager

Human Resources Los Angeles, California

USC Credit Union, a dynamic $550 million Credit Union located steps from USC’s University Park campus near Downtown Los Angeles, is looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager.  This top level HR position reports directly to the President/CEO and is responsible for planning, organizing and directing all Human Resource and Employee Training operations. This position exercises independent judgment requiring minimum supervision.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops and manages recruitment and retention strategies, workforce plans, compensation strategies and budgets, employee relations, performance management systems and all other HR functions
  • Top level responsibility for all staff training, professional development strategies, curriculums, and operations
  • Liaison and support for employee benefits, workers’ compensation, retirement, talent management and all other functions administered by USC’s central HR projects and initiatives.  Note that USCCU’s employees are currently leased from USC
  • Counsels managers and supervisors regarding employment policies, procedures and disciplinary actions
  • Implements positive and engaging practices in human resources management
  • Provides coaching to management, supervisors and employees to enhance employee performance and foster a culture consistent with the credit union’s values and service philosophy
  • Provides oversight of daily HR operations and compliance with applicable regulations (e.g. employment standards, occupational health, privacy laws)
  • Sets divisional and organizational human resource objectives that are aligned with the Credit Union’s strategic direction
  • Fosters a culture of service excellence and coordinates effective human resources operations to enable staff to effectively deliver services to USCCU’s member/owners
  • Develops relevant management level policy for the division, assists in the development of governing level policy and ensures adherence to all corporate policies and procedures
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Organizational Development, or similar relevant field
  • Three years’ experience as Human Resources generalist
  • Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • Thorough knowledge of Employment Federal and State laws and regulations
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background and credit check

In addition to above, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Organizational Development, or similar relevant field
  • Six years’ experience in Human Resources including payroll and in a Leadership management role
  • Experience in the credit union or financial services industry
  • Proven ability to build and manage a diverse HR and Education team
  • Excellent leadership and public relations skills
