University Advancement - Stewardship and Donor Relations

The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is located in the heart of downtown L.A. and is the largest private employer in the City of Los Angeles. USC University Advancement division is seeking a Development Coordinator to join its Stewardship and Donor Relations team.  The incumbent will work closely with the Assistant Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations.

Job duties include the following:

  • Assists with the generation of acknowledgments for the President of USC, SVP of Advancement, first time donors and matching gifts donors, consecutive givers, and other donor groups, ensuring gift and donor details are correct.
  • Must possess excellent writing and proofreading skills.
  • Assists with stewardship reporting and the tracking of the data associated with these reports.
  • Assists with communications and mailings for the Widney Society, the university’s premier giving society, including welcome packets, database coding and maintenance, generating lists, etc.
  • Tracks gift agreements for recognition names and new naming opportunities, updating the Salesforce database.
  • Assists with the tracking and mailing of major gift pledge reminders.
  • Assists with gift receipting, proofing for accuracy and identifying any potential issues, prior to mailing.
  • On an ongoing basis, reviews and ensures bio updates and gift adjustments are made in Salesforce database.
  • Tracks high level requests or issues involving donor acknowledgments, gift agreements, and other stewardship activities that require immediate attention and action.
  • Proactively identifies and recommends processes/systems that improve efficiency.
  • Assists with current and new naming opportunities projects as assigned by the Senior Executive Director and Assistant Directors.
  • Oversees the work of temp and student workers.
  • Utilizes Microsoft Office, Salesforce and Portal databases for all other stewardship/recognition updates and tracking.
  • Assists with handling internal and external constituents’ questions and requests for information.
  • Stays on top of trends and best practices in the stewardship/donor relations field.
  • Assists in educating and encouraging best practices in stewardship/donor relations with internal colleagues.
  • Assists department with administrative duties such as ordering supplies, handling expenses/reimbursements, setting up meetings, copying, filing, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
