USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering Advancement Office is currently seeking candidates for the position of Director of Corporate Relations. Reporting to the Executive Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, the Director will be responsible for corporate relations marketing and stewardship initiatives as well as managing a portfolio of corporate partnerships. The priorities set for Corporate and Foundation Relations follow the priorities set by the Dean of the Viterbi School of Engineering with primary focus on support for faculty, centers, labs, students and new initiatives.

Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Executive Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, manage and pursue corporate-academic partnerships aligned with the Viterbi’s School’s broad range of programs and initiatives and serve as a point of contact for corporate relations within the School.
Serve as the primary Viterbi relationship manager for a portfolio of corporate accounts. Maintain strong relationships with key liaisons in each company.
Proactively develop strategies, identify opportunities to raise awareness of USC Viterbi with companies and encourage more companies to reach out to Viterbi and invest in relationships with the School.
Support the Executive and Senior Directors of Corporate and Foundation Relations to ensure visits by industry are planned and executed professionally.
Work with the Executive Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations to establish annual fundraising goals from corporations. Actively participate in the development, implementation, monitoring and assessment of strategies to achieve goals.
Oversees corporate marketing initiatives, interacting with Viterbi Office of Communications and Marketing.
Creation and maintenance of digital communication, including but not limited to mass emails / digital newsletters, web properties and social media communication. Familiarity with state of the art platforms like Constant Contact and Word Press desired.
Develop a strong knowledgebase of the faculty, research community, their research interests and expertise so that they can be matched with companies with overlapping interests.
Participate in strategic planning.
Develop, coordinate, and implement fundraising strategies to secure gifts. Develop, prepare and present formal fundraising proposals to corporate prospects. Ability to efficiently and effectively bring proposals to successful closure.
Ensure an effective stewardship plan for donors that is functional, systematically implemented and uses university best practices.
Work with major gift Advancement team, exploring corporate interests on the part of executives and referring prospects for individual giving.
Contribute to Advancement events and activities as required.
Coordinate with the Student Affairs staff to ensure the leaders of student groups are aware of and follow University policies and procedures regarding fundraising. Ensure that club leaders know to notify USC’s Advancement organization of their fund-raising plans in advance of executing their plans.
Position Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree with minimum of 5 years’ experience required, preferred 10 years’ experience and Master's degree in Engineering.
This position requires an appreciation for new technologies and their role in society. While a technical background is not required, a background in BioTech and/or BioEngineering is preferred.
Expertise in university-academic collaborations, and corporate fundraising, preferably at a leading research university.
Ability to develop and implement strategies to develop long-term corporate partnerships.
Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and fundraising proposal writing.
Outstanding interpersonal skills, a high-energy level and the ability to effectively communicate with engineering faculty members are required.
Ability to actively listen to corporate representatives and faculty with a technical focus, identify areas of common interest, and articulate a compelling case for the School of Engineering.
Self-starter with strong organization and analytical skills.
Willingness to travel.
Highly motivated professional with solid success at achieving or surpassing ambitious fundraising targets.
