The Director of Foundation Relations will assist the Senior Executive Director of Foundation Relations and Office of Foundation Relations in implementing a strong foundation giving program for the Keck School of Medicine of USC. This position reports to the Senior Executive Director of Foundation Relations and will focus on fundraising for assigned campaign priorities and research areas. This position plays a role in meeting the fundraising goals of the extended campaign for the Keck School of Medicine through medical leadership or physician engagement and donor management. The Director will be responsible for meeting annual metrics by working with an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects and actively building his or her portfolio to meet assigned campaign goals and objectives for the Keck School of Medicine of USC. The successful candidate will work with directors of development, faculty and campus leadership to write compelling requests for funding. The Director will also be expected to make a significant number of mutually agreed upon foundation related visits per year and deliver an agreed upon number of proposals annually. Main Job Accountabilities will include:
Work with assigned medical leadership and colleagues to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward foundation prospects and build a pipeline of new support for multiple initiatives.
Initiate, develop, execute and evaluate strategies and solicitations for foundations based on capacity for support and alignment of KSOM priorities with those of foundations.
Ensure accurate gift processing, create and manage stewardship plans and develop appropriate engagement opportunities.
Create written progress reports for foundations and updates for faculty, acknowledgement letters and respond to requests from faculty, staff and advancement colleagues.
Facilitate faculty engagement, fundraising referrals and manage campaign progress reports and provide regular updates.
Track progress and results utilizing University Advancement databases and prospect management guidelines.
Develop, manage, coordinate and implement other related projects as necessary in the solicitation of major foundation prospects.
Represents the school or department at professional and University meetings, seminars and conferences for professional development.
Communicates goals and priorities of school or department to various professional communities.
Qualifications: Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in fundraising; foundation fundraising is preferred. College degree or related experience required. Management skills and experience required. Candidates must have the ability to speak articulately about and assist leaders in developing a vision and case for support – excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Requires experience in working collaboratively with development colleagues, and frequent interaction with faculty and medical leadership. Candidate must be highly motivated and be able to work independently and as part of a team and with energy, optimism and persistence. Proven organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and produce high quality results quickly.
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 5 years, Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience Minimum Field of Expertise: Major campaign, fundraising, public relations and/or volunteer management experience.
