The Department of Pathology at the Keck School of Medicine, located in the Health Sciences Campus, is seeking an experienced Electron Microscopy Histology Technician to join its team.
The Electron Microscopy Histology Technician is responsible for the preparation and processing of pathology specimens, primarily renal, lung, nerve and muscle tissue, for the Electron Microscopy Laboratory in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. The incumbent will be responsible for the receipt and accessioning and grossing of specimens, tissue processing and embedding, cutting frozen sections and thick sections, cutting ultra-thin sections for electron microscopy, immunofluorescent staining and the preparation of solutions for laboratory processing, as well as interaction with clients.
The Keck School of Medicine Department of Pathology is one of the largest pathology departments in the United States. The Department aims to shape the future of pathology as it will be practiced in community hospitals, academic medical centers and clinical laboratories throughout the country.
Associate of Science in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology, or have education and training that includes:
At least 60 semester hours, or equivalent, from an accredited institution that includes at a minimum
• 24 semester hours of medical laboratory courses, or 24 semester hours of science courses that include
• 6 hours of chemistry
• 6 hours of biology
• 12 hours of chemistry, biology or medical lab technology, AND
36 hours of other coursework (to complete the 60 hour minimum
