Junior FellowApply Center on Communication Leadership & Policy Los Angeles, California
The USC Annenberg School's Center on Communication Leadership & Policy (CCLP) is seeking an exceptional recent graduate as a fixed-term full-time Junior Fellow working on a range of issues including the role of media and technology in democracy, the future of journalism, women and communication leadership and policy, and understanding and bridging the political divide.
The Junior Fellow will work closely with CCLP Director and University Professor Geoffrey Cowan, and CCLP's Senior and Faculty Fellows. The Junior Fellow will serve as a Teaching Assistant for Professor Cowan, provide administrative, research, and editorial support for the Director and CCLP publications, in addition to assisting with public events and other programmatic activities. The Junior Fellow will also produce and maintain content on the Center's web site, blog, social media sites and other publications.
Qualifications and application process
Ideal applicants will be highly organized and possess exceptional research and communication skills, superior academic performance, and solid knowledge of and passion for the areas in which CCLP is engaged. Occasional travel, night and weekend work required. Ideal applicants will hold a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, international relations, political science, history, public relations, or a related field. Applicants with Master’s degrees in these related fields are also encouraged to apply.

- A cover letter (about one page) explaining why you are interested in this position and how you expect to contribute
- Two examples of your writing and research (e.g. a paper from class, articles or blog posts)
- Optionally, based on the topics and themes that our center works on, offer 1-2 proposals each for a) discussion topics and panelists for on-campus conversations that could be organized by CCLP; and b) research projects that we could undertake.
- Please feel free to include professional references and/or letters of recommendation and an academic transcript.
The term of the fellowship is Spring, 2019 (with a start date between March and June) to June 30, 2020. However, preference will be given to applicants who prefer a two-year appointment. The second-year contract may be renewed with the approval of the director based on exemplary performance and funding availability.
