Keck Medicine of USC

Keck Medicine of USC includes the Keck School of Medicine of USC, the region’s first medical school; the renowned USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of the first comprehensive cancer centers established by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States; the USC Care Medical Group, a medical faculty practice; the Keck Medical Center of USC, which includes two acute care hospitals: 401-licensed bed Keck Hospital of USC and 60-licensed bed USC Norris Cancer Hospital; and USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, a 158-licensed bed community hospital. It also includes more than 40 outpatient facilities, some at affiliated hospitals, in Los Angeles, Orange, Kern, Tulare and Ventura counties.

Laboratory Specialist - BMT Lab - FT 8 Hour Rotating

USCKH - Clinical Laboratory Los Angeles, California

Under the direct supervision of the Medical Director of BMT Program, the BMT Laboratory Specialist processes autologous and allogeneic stem cell collections for storage, aliquots specimens for testing and prepares the product for infusion following standard laboratory policies and procedures.   Clerical duties associated with BMT Laboratory include writing policies and procedures relevant to the BMT laboratory, performing review per accreditation and regulatory standards, and updating when necessary.  The BMT Laboratory Specialist may assist higher level licensed personnel in performing standard laboratory tests while remaining within his/her scope of practice.  The BMT Laboratory Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with current licensing and accreditation standards.

Minimum Education:
-Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree and/or equivalent training.

Minimum Experience/Knowledge:
-Minimum 2 years experience in a bone marrow transplant laboratory or equivalent to include specimen processing/preparation for testing, computer data entry and stem cell processing.
-Familiar with use of Microsoft Excel/Word.

Preferred: Clinical Laboratory Scientist (State of California License)

Required License/Certification:
-Fire and Safety Certification. If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
