The University of Southern California Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join its faculty as a Clinical Instructor in our division of gynecologic oncology. Under the guidance of the gynecologic oncology faculty, and in accordance with standardized procedures, this practitioner would perform histories and physical examinations, treat common episodic and chronic health conditions, counsel patients and families, monitor patient progress, and assist with medical research projects within the scope of gynecologic oncology. The practitioner will work in collaboration with other health care team members, consulting and referring as appropriate, but retains responsibility for ongoing clinical management of the patients. In addition, the practitioner will write admission orders, make rounds on the inpatient service at Keck Hospital and follow through on daily action plans. The practitioner will evaluate patients coming into the Emergency Treatment Center, responds to patient phone calls regarding medical issues and communicates results after discussion with staff physicians. The practitioner assesses patients receiving chemotherapy in the infusion center, and answers questions and helps with toxicity management. Last, the practitioner will function as a resource to nurses and ancillary staff at other divisional practice sites.
