Occupational Health and Safety Specialist I

Environmental Health and Safety - Occupational Health Los Angeles, California

The Office of Environmental Health and Safety is seeking a qualified candidate with general safety experience, particularly in Occupational Heath. The Occupational Health and Safety Specialist will provide services to the university community in various locations. The Specialist will work closely with the Industrial Hygienist assisting with monitoring, inspections and databases. The Specialist will also assist the Shop Safety Program Manager with shop inspections, investigating incidents and special projects.

Additional Information:

The Specialist will be required to be on-call four weeks during the calendar year, and will also be required to complete the 24 hr Hazwoper training. In the event of a major emergency, the Specialist is required to "report to duty" in accordance with the University's Emergency Operations Plan.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree with 1-2 years of safety experience
Minimum Experience: 1 year
Minimum Field of Expertise: Science education or directly related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education: Related Graduate study
Preferred Experience: 2 years
Preferred Field of Experience: Experience in Occupational Health
Excellent written and oral communication skills
