Keck Medicine of USC

Keck Medicine of USC includes the Keck School of Medicine of USC, the region’s first medical school; the renowned USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of the first comprehensive cancer centers established by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States; the USC Care Medical Group, a medical faculty practice; the Keck Medical Center of USC, which includes two acute care hospitals: 401-licensed bed Keck Hospital of USC and 60-licensed bed USC Norris Cancer Hospital; and USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, a 158-licensed bed community hospital. It also includes more than 40 outpatient facilities, some at affiliated hospitals, in Los Angeles, Orange, Kern, Tulare and Ventura counties.

In 2016, U.S. News & World Report ranked Keck Medical Center of USC among the Top 10 hospitals in the state and among the Top 50 hospitals in the United States in seven specialties: ophthalmology, urology, cancer, geriatrics, orthopedic surgery, nephrology and cardiology and heart surgery.

Ophthalmic Technical Services Supervisor - Ophthalmology -Full Time 8 Hour Days (Exempt) (Non-Union)

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Minimum Experience/Knowledge:

  • Minimum 5 years’ ophthalmic technical experience in a clinical setting with at least 2 years of lead/ supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of medical procedures terminology and protocols.
  • Knowledge in administering diagnostic tests.
  • Knowledge of specialized equipment and instruments.
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of the information or data to identify and elevate opportunities.
  • Strong customer service experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability and skills in computer, Microsoft Office and applicable software.

Required License/Certification:

  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) required.                                                   
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. If no certification upon hire, must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. 
  • Fire and Safety Certification.  If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 90 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date. 

Supervises the daily operations of the Ophthalmic Technician Services. Performs technical patient procedures to document and diagnose visual acuity. Serves as a central point of contact for coordinating patient care/patient flow within assigned area of responsibility. Collaborates with physicians, staff and other departments to enhance services. Supervises department staff. Ensures polices and procedure are adhered to. Develops and provides resident and fellow in-service/orientation for the ophthalmic technician services. Promotes and advocates for excellence in patient service standards.
