Part Time Faculty Position in Landscape Media and Representation

School of Arch - Staff Los Angeles, California

The USC School of Architecture is seeking qualified lecturers for courses in the discipline of Landscape Architecture.  Core courses including media and representation are essential components in our design research studio centered program. 

The media and representation instructor will teach courses in introductory and advanced media and representation to students with a range of skills and experience in visual arts.  Instruction in these courses will include the history and theory of landscape representation, conventions of visual communication, techniques in hand and digital drawings, digital and physical three-dimensional modelling, instruction in fabrication using CNC and 3D printing.  At the conclusion of these courses students will have fluency in the representation of landscapes.  Techniques acquired in these courses will be applied by students in their studio, research and other courses.

Candidates should have teaching and/or professional experience in the design and production of drawings, models and other forms of visual representation.  In addition to hand drawing and physical model making candidates should have expertise in Rhino, Adobe Suite, Lumion and other applicable digital drawing software.  Candidates must have at least one professional degree in Landscape Architecture, preferably a Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA).  Prior teaching experience and research are desirable but not required.

This is a 9 month appointment starting in August 2018.
