Part Time Faculty Position in Structures, Structural Design and Structural Analysis

School of Arch - Staff Los Angeles, California

The USC School of Architecture is seeking qualified lecturers for courses in the discipline of Building Science. The structures instructor will teach one or more courses in introductory and advanced structures, structural design and structural analysis. Instruction in these courses will include developing informed intuition for structural behavior and abilities of different structural components and basic structural systems. Students will learn the basic mechanics of loads, stresses, and reactions, and learn methods to calculate forces, stresses and deformations. Instruction will include understanding structural materials including their pros and cons for different structural components and developing an appreciation for the synergy of form, function and utility.

Candidates should have teaching and/or professional experience in structural engineering for architecture.  Candidates must have at a graduate degree in Architecture, Architecture Engineering, Engineering or related field. Prior teaching experience and research are desirable but not required.

This is a 9 month appointment starting in August 2018.
