Part-time Chinese Language Lecturer Position

East Asian Languages and Cultures, University of Southern California

The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures in the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California, invites applications for a part-time teaching-track lecturer position in the Chinese language beginning in the fall of 2019.

The department provides students with a well-rounded education on East Asia by focusing on the study of the languages, literatures, and cultures of China, Japan and Korea at both the graduate (Ph.D.) and undergraduate (B.A.) level. Applicants should have an M.A. or Ph.D. in language pedagogy, second language acquisition, linguistics, or related fields, and possess native or near-native fluency in both their language of instruction and English. Evidence of dynamic and effective language teaching is essential. Candidates with ACTFL OPI Testing Certification are desirable. Experience in Chinese Calligraphy is a plus. Salary and benefits are competitive.

To apply please submit a curriculum vitae, a cover letter that includes a statement of teaching interests, recent teaching evaluations, calligraphy samples (if applicable), and the names of three individuals who will be contacted by USC for a letter of reference. At least two of the referees should speak to teaching abilities. In the application letter, please include a link to sample teaching videos that demonstrate teaching at two different levels.
