Patient Services Specialist

Physical Therapy UPC Los Angeles, California

This is a one year fixed-term position.

The USC Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy is seeking an enthusiastic Patient Services Specialist to join the USC Physical Therapy Associates Clinic at the University Park Campus.

The Patient Services Specialist will be performing a variety of administrative duties at the USC Physical Therapy Associates Clinic. Responsibilities include but not limited to: greeting patients and determining nature of visit; registers new patients and assigns patient IDs; collects patient information, co-payment, patient account balance, and verifies insurance eligibility and coverage level for new and returning patients.

This individual will also receive record and various forms payments following established policies and procedures; screens and prioritizes incoming calls; schedules and confirms appointments and follow-ups; provides administrative support to supervisory and management staff; and maintains a safe environment in accordance with compliance standards, policies, and safety regulations.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, customer service-oriented, and thrives in a fast paced environment. The successful candidate will also have excellent verbal and written communication skills, have a flexible attitude, and demonstrates proficiency with Microsoft Office and software. A team player is definitely needed to fit the role when handling day to day tasks. Previous working knowledge of patient insurance management systems is preferred. Previous experience working in patient-facing healthcare environment is preferred.

Job Profile Summary Minimum Education: High school or equivalent Minimum Experience: 2 years Minimum Field of Expertise: Experience working in a healthcare environment. Working knowledge of HIPAA compliance and insurance terminology. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal customer service and telephone skills. Demonstrated ability to multi-task. Demonstrated experience in a high volume, fast paced environment. Demonstrated team-oriented and collaborative work style.
