Postdoctoral Scholar - Research Associate

POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR: COMPUTATIONAL MARINE MICROBIAL ECOLOGY

A postdoctoral position in computational marine microbial ecology and biogeochemistry is currently available in Dr. Naomi Levine’s research group at USC. The scholar will lead independent research related to understanding the guiding principles governing microbial ecosystem structure and function and how these principles scale-up to determine interactions between climate and marine microbial ecosystems. This work will involve ecosystem model development, calibration, validation, and hypothesis testing.  Candidates must have a Ph.D. in marine sciences, oceanography, ecology, microbiology, or a similar field with a strong publication record. Extensive computational experience, specifically with numerical models, large dataset and model analyses is required.   This position is part of an interdisciplinary, international Simons Foundation Collaboration on Principles of Microbial Ecosystems (more information can be found at www.simonsfoundation.org/life-sciences/microbial-ecology-and-evolution/).


Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to work well in a team, are required.
