Program Manager

Keck School of Medicine Los Angeles, California

The Program Manager for the USC Keck School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Health Sciences will manage the department’s mental health consortium program. The department aims to provide exceptional mental health resources and is developing a mental health consortium program to coordinate interdisciplinary care across diverse departments and services throughout and close to USC. Under the leadership of the department Chair, Senior Clinical Administrator, and Director of Clinical Operations, the program manager will bring together disparate resources in an effort to achieve the department’s vision of becoming the national beacon for student mental health care and the department’s mission to relieve suffering

The program manager will build formal and informal relationships across Keck School of Medicine, Keck Medicine of USC Health System, Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Science, USC Department of Public Safety, USC Student Health Services, The Haven at College, among other on and off-campus mental health resources to develop a mental health consortium, bridging and connecting care for our stakeholders.

This position requires someone with a master’s degree in public health, population health, or a related field (relevant experience in lieu of education will be considered). They will be responsible for executing the vision of the Chair and Senior Clinical Administrator, building a network of interdisciplinary care services, creating and implementing best practice policies and procedures, implementing quality programs, analyzing related quality data, and working closely with clinical leadership to coordinate our services. Additionally, this position will be responsible for building bridges with and assisting the clinical oversight of mental health care resources across USC. Finally, this position will be responsible for identifying gaps in care, applying for and managing grants, and communicating the program results to clinical leaders and health system executives.

The applicant must have experience with healthcare data collection, analysis, and presentation, as well as familiarity with the principles of quality improvement.  They must have exceptional writing and presentation skills, and experience applying for and managing grants. 

Preferred Education: Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Population Health, or related field. Experience with Cerner and biostatistical software (such as SAS, JMP, or Stata) or SQL preferred.

Preferred Experience/Knowledge:

  • 5-10 years of healthcare experience.

  • 2 years of experience in healthcare data collection, analysis, and presentation. Experience with biostatistics and research is preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with project management and program development.

  • Experience writing and managing grants preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to write professional communications including memos, business plans, and interdepartmental messaging. Skilled in writing, editing, and communicating with a diverse staff, faculty, and patient population.

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of programs, with experience in Excel.

  • Demonstrated ability in building/developing relationships, thinking critically and public speaking.

  • Proven ability to analyze situations, define objectives and develop short-and long-term strategies to fulfill them is necessary.

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 3 years Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related professional and supervisory experience in area of program specialization
