USC’s Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, is now seeking a Project Assistant for its Center for Body Computing (CBC). The Center for Body Computing, established in 2006, is a leading global digital health research and innovation center. The USC CBC conducts cutting edge research in digital health and accelerates the successful development of ideas and innovative digital health products and services. The Center collaborates with USC programs in partnership with industry leaders and venture capitalists in biotechnology, telecommunications, entertainment, design, and consumer products.
The Project Assistant is responsible for assisting CBC Project Managers with managing the day-to-day project tasks of the CBC, including (but not limited to): developing and implementing project goals and timelines and facilitating coordination and communication between project stakeholders, help with setting up events and meetings. The Project Assistant will also aid Project Managers in contracts and grants administration tasks, such as preparing and monitoring budgets, interacting with university contract administrators and funding agencies to provide information, resolve problems and coordinate on-site visits.
On a day to day basis, the Project Assistant will also assist with business development efforts. These will include researching companies to target for sponsorship and membership, development of targeted materials such as Powerpoint presentations, and the planning and hosting of business development meetings. The Project Assistant will assist in the planning and execution of any CBC events, including the annual Body Computing Conference, a day-long meeting of physicians, entrepreneurs, and innovators from all over the world focused on exploring the future of digital health.
Candidates should have an interest and/or experience in digital health and wireless sensors. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about transforming the current healthcare system and committed to providing better healthcare outcomes through the use of technology.
Assists in the administration and coordination of a variety of research, event and/or administrative projects and provides quality control. Provides assistance to management with administrative functions such as planning, organizing, coordinating, scheduling and implementing project activities to meet objectives. Participates in writing of reports or other documentation of project status and/or administrative activities or project results. Oversees administrative project personnel as assigned.
Assists with data collection for a research study. Follows established data collection and management procedures to prepare, collect, record or enter data. Cleans and edits data and performs basic analysis. Collects pertinent information from study participants through interviews, administration of tests or surveys or questionnaires, scheduling of medical procedures, or other collection procedures.
Assists in coordinating study participant activities to include recruitment, correspondence, screening and orientation. Schedules appointments and procedures, coordinating with external providers as needed.
Assists in the organization and production of grant proposals. Gathers documentation such as annual reports and detailed budgets for inclusion in proposal. Works with investigators to develop research proposals. Interfaces with funding agencies to exchange information.
Assists in preparing and editing articles, proposals, journals, manuscripts and other technical documents. Coordinates the production of same. Supervises production work performed by internal staff or interfaces with vendors to negotiate and contract for production services. Monitors vendor performance to ensure quality and timeliness of contracted work.
Independently produces reports, correspondence and other materials as needed. Maintains automated databases and other records for reporting and compliance purposes. Generates reports and analysis of data according to project schedules or on an ad hoc basis.
Hosts project or study guests, e.g., funding agency representatives, national and international visiting scholars, and media representatives.
Arranges and attends meetings, seminars, symposia and other events related to project efforts. Stays informed of developments in field.
Orders supplies and equipment. Researches new equipment purchases and develops recommendations for supervisor's consideration.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
