Project Assistant

Institute For Prevention Research Los Angeles, California

The USCPOWER Lab (https://powerlab.usc.edu/) in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC is recruiting to fill a full-time Project Assistant position. The Project Assistant will be involved in data collection for externally funded research projects that investigate sex/gender differences and women-specific factors in consequences and mechanisms underlying tobacco addiction. Specifically, s/he will execute data collection protocols involving collecting, recording, and entering data via face-to-face and phone based interaction with research participants for all active projects. This position requires recruitment of research participants, screening, and coordinating/scheduling participant laboratory sessions. Other duties will include purchasing and drafting settlements for project-related expenses as well as managing and overseeing the completion of project-specific grant progress reports and IRB-related documents. The Project Assistant will work closely with Dr. Pang, staff, and undergraduate volunteers to develop their knowledge in working with research participants while expanding their general research skills and interests.

Overall, the successful candidate will work well independently and as a part of a research team,

have excellent organizational skills, be able to work well independently and as a member of a research team, and have good interpersonal skills in relation to interacting with study participants. Experience working in a behavioral research setting is preferred. The position requires 5 days/wk attendance with flexibility to work weekends as needed at the USC Health Sciences Campus in Los Angeles, CA.


Minimum Education: High school or equivalent Minimum Experience: 1 year Minimum Field of Expertise: Knowledge of data collection procedures and some experience with proposal preparation and production of technical documents
