The Norman Lear Center, a research and public policy center at USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, seeks an enthusiastic candidate for a part-time (60% effort) Project Assistant, with the possibility of additional hours in the future.We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. The Lear Center conducts evaluation and applied research on the social impact of media and entertainment. We work on a variety of health and public interest issues.
The Project Assistant will support senior team members in conducting research studies on the content and impact of media and entertainment narratives. He or she will be assigned to a grant-funded project on portrayals of social determinants of health in TV and film. This person may contribute to other projects if additional funding becomes available. Primary responsibilities will include administrative tasks (scheduling meetings, correspondence with stakeholders and partners, maintaining project calendars, note-taking in meetings) and assisting with research activities. Depending on the candidate’s experience, this may include conducting literature searches, basic data analysis, or contributing to trainings and events.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and be enthusiastic about the power of media and entertainment to engage audiences and inspire social change. Experience with social science research and/or the entertainment industry is preferred, but not required. Basic video editing and graphic design experience would be a plus. The candidate should be detail oriented, a team player, and able to foresee potential problems and proactively propose solutions. Strong organizational and writing skills are essential to this position.

This is a part-time, grant-funded staff position. The hourly range for this position is: $ 23.07 - $26.67
