Project Specialist

The Leonard D. Schaeffer Center’s Aging and Cognition Research Program has an immediate opening for a Project Specialist to assist in the administration of the program and dissemination of its broad research portfolio. The Project Specialist will report to the Co-Director of the Aging and Cognition Program and will interface closely with the Schaeffer Center External Affairs, Finance, and research training teams.

The mission of the Leonard D. Schaeffer Center for Health Policy & Economics is to measurably improve value in health through evidence-based policy solutions, research and educational excellence, and private and public sector engagement. With its extraordinary breadth and depth of expertise, the Schaeffer Center will have a vital impact on the transformation of healthcare.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Research:

  • Participate in the planning, design and development of project protocols

  • Provide administrative research support: CV/biosketch updates, creating/formatting figures and tables, document review, and presentation development

  • Maintain and build activity catalogs on program-related research

  • Track analytics on experts to generate content and input data

  • Draft research reports and other research dissemination materials 

  • Support research administration efforts on the following National Institutes of Health-funded Centers: Center for Advancing Sociodemographic and Economic Study of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (CeASES ADRD) and Resource Center for Minority Aging Research (USC RCMAR)

Administrative:

  • Engage with vendors and independent contractors who perform work on behalf of the Center’s Aging Program

  • Provide administrative support to Center’s Director: calendaring, travel, reimbursements, events, note taking, program administration, classroom, etc.   

  • Manage Center’s dissemination of research and events via social media

  • Implement and maintain project organization and communication plans which enable the research team to effectively work together to meet project objectives.

  • Support the research team’s fundraising efforts: grant proposal preparation, budget preparation, and proposal submission. 

  • Coordinate stakeholder meetings to support major research initiatives: keep and synthesize technical minutes, identify action items, and provide follow-up to participants as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s in Health Policy, Health Services Research, Health Economics, Public Health or related field, required.

Minimum Experience:

2 years of related professional experience; or Master’s degree in related field of study.

Compensation:

  • Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

  • Position is 100% Full-Time Employee on a 2-year (renewable) fixed term.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
