Research AssociateApply Medicine - GI/Liver - Pat. Care Los Angeles, California
A Research Associate position is available immediately in the Saito laboratory in the department of medicine. Our laboratory focuses to study: 1) innate immunology/inflammation against human pathogenic viruses, and 2) the metabolic diseases of the liver. Our laboratory utilizes the tools of cell biology, virology, bacteriology, genetics, molecular biology and systems biology. The ideal applicant will be a hardworking, creative and highly self-motivated researcher who is interested in the field of virus-host interaction, inflammation, and immunity. The candidate is expected to have significant experiences with in vitro and vivo experiments, including but not limited to, general molecular biology, and biochemical skills/knowledge. This includes, but not limited to, the protein assay (Western Blotting, Immunoprecipiatation (IP), SDS-PAGE gel analysis), nucleic acids (DNA and RNA such as cloning, PCR, RT-QPCR, RNA synthesis, transfection, extraction), microscopic analysis (immunofluorescent staining, immuno-histochemistry (IHC), light microscopy and image analysis and processing).
The Research Associate’s main responsibilities will be to develop, lead, and conduct highly technical research projects discussed with the PI. Analyzes research data and provides interpretations. Contributes to the development of research documentation for publication and/or prepares technical reports, papers and/or experimental records. The candidate must be fluent in the use of laboratory equipment, computer/research/office software to conduct analyses of experiment data. The candidate also contributes to the quality control of the laboratory, such as preparation of general experimental materials, maintenance of laboratory protocols, safety guidelines, and animal protocols.
