Job Summary

The Lawrence J. Ellison Institute is seeking a talented and passionate Artificial Intelligence Research Engineer to join its team. The Institute is made up of a diverse group of innovative and talented professionals who work

in a fast-paced environment that provides ongoing support to research projects, patient care, lab research and administrative operations.

The Artificial Intelligence Research Engineer is responsible for performing the following job duties under supervision:

  • Investigate and develop algorithms and software for the effective training and deployment of Deep Learning models in bio-imaging research.
  • Develop tools for acquiring data, processing data, visualizing results, and storing data in databases or archiving systems in single machines or multiple machines using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Job Accountabilities

  • Develop, test, and run deep learning models for image classification in Python using Pytorch.
  • Assemble deep learning result metrics and present them to the research team.
  • Assist in documenting code and data pipelines and creating releases on GitHub.
  • Collaborate with scientists to improve results based on biological context and interpretation of images.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Preferred Education: Doctorate

Preferred Experience: 5 Years

Preferred Field of Expertise: Proven experience achieving results in a scientific research environment. Deep knowledge base in a specific field.

Additional qualifications:

  • Experience optimizing deep neural networks for training and inference
  • Experience building data pipelines in the cloud
  • Deep Learning research publications
  • Strong software engineering skills

Salary Range: $81k - $104k


Minimum Education: Master’s degree Minimum Experience: 3 years Minimum Field of Expertise: Master’s degree in engineering or related field. Experience in a laboratory setting conducting scientific research. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
