Research Lab Technician I

The USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology is seeking a Research Lab Technician I to join its team! This is an opportunity for a reliable and self-motivated person to participate in cutting-edge research. The Research Lab Technician I provides basic technical assistance to other laboratory technicians in conducting research experiments. Conducts standardized tests and procedures under close supervision.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Assist staff researchers to set up, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment; set up and carry out in vitro (cell culture) and in vivo (rodents) experiments.

  • Makes observations, calculate and record results, under the supervision of staff researchers

  • Prepares experimental materials using laboratory protocols and safety guidelines.

  • Maintains accurate records of procedures used to conduct basic experiments.

  • Performs limited routine analysis and provides basic interpretations.​

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

The lab technician is critical to our preclinical studies in investigating the molecular mechanisms and in developing novel diet-based interventions that can augment chemotherapy. It is important that we have skilled lab technician to support our effort of successfully carrying out the P01 project as well as securing continuing funding from NIH and private foundations. ​This position is contingent upon receipt of the necessary funding from this or any subsequent grant to continue employment. ​

Qualification

Our ideal candidate will possess a B.S. in life science, biology, biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology or related field.
