The USC Davis School of Gerontology is seeking a Research Lab Technician I to join its team! This is an opportunity for a reliable and self-motivated person to participate in cutting-edge research. The Research Lab Technician I provides basic technical assistance to other laboratory technicians in conducting research experiments. Conducts standardized tests and procedures under close supervision. We are looking for someone who is interested in studying the effects of mitochondria on lifespan and healthspan. Our lab uses a wide range of animal models (mice, human cell culture, and worms) to examine the molecular pathways important to mitochondrial control of different age-related diseases.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Assist lab members with experiments such as cell culture, molecular biology (western blots, PCRs, etc.), and mouse work.
- Our ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology or related field and at least 1 year of experience in a lab.
- Experience culturing and handling C. elegans is a plus.
- Maintain accurate records of procedures used to conduct experiments
- Perform basic analysis of data and present the data to other lab members
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
