Research Lab Technician II

Medicine Los Angeles, California

USC's Keck School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, is seeking a Research Coordinator II to join its team. The Research Lab Technician II is part of the Cardiovascular Research Unit (CRU) and is responsible for coordinating assigned projects.

The Research Lab Technician will work in funded basic science laboratory studying cardiovascular development and regeneration. Looking for a  hard-working and motivated candidate with excellent working knowledge in molecular biology techniques including cloning and transgenics, expertise with handling animal colonies and surgical procedures, and tissue processing experience. Salary and benefits commensurate with University employment.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Serves as a research trainee for the purpose of enhancing and developing research competencies. Participates in planning, designing and conducting highly technical and complex research projects under the direction of a supervisor. May or may not work independently.
  • Identifies, researches, compiles and evaluates data sources, background information and/or technology related to area of specialization.
  • Analyzes and evaluates research data utilizing computers and provides interpretations requiring significant knowledge of a specialized area of research.
  • Searches literature, utilizing all available resources including electronic, regarding new methodology and designs experiments accordingly.
  • Contributes to the development of research documentation for publication and/or prepares technical reports, papers and/or records.
  • Operates and maintains sophisticated laboratory/scientific equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time

Other:

Preferred Education:  Master’s Degree

                                          Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education

Preferred Experience: 2 years in laboratory research

Preferred Field of Expertise:  Working knowledge of laboratory equipment and research protocols. Knowledge of computer analysis techniques and ability to provide routine analysis and interpretation of research data.

Posting Salary Range: DOE

Percentage of Time: 100% full time

Fixed Term:   06/01/2019-12/31/2019


Minimum Education: Associate's degree, Specialized/technical training, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
Minimum Experience: 2 years
Minimum Field of Expertise: Working knowledge of laboratory equipment and research protocols. Knowledge of computer analysis techniques and ability to provide routine analysis and interpretation of research data.
