The Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences - Translational Imaging Center seeks a full time Research Lab Technician II to join its team.
The Research Lab Technician II will plan and perform traditional molecular and cell biology experiments. Be proficient in, but not limited to, molecular techniques for DNA and RNA manipulation, PCR, and gene expression analysis. Independently performs non-routine and complex research laboratory procedures and techniques. Maintains accurate records of procedures used to conduct experiments. Prepares chemical solutions for experimental use, maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, perform general lab orders and monitor lab safety guidelines. Assist in organizing and maintaining animal colony. Provide analyses and interpretations of results for review by supervisor. Provides input and updates on progress of research and makes recommendations for modification as appropriate.
Education: Bachelor degree or Master's degree
Preferred Experience: individuals with strong background in MOLECULAR BIOLOGY and GENETICS
Preferred Field of Expertise: Highly proficient in molecular techniques, 1-2 years of directly related laboratory experience to provide advanced knowledge of research procedures, equipment and analysis methods.
Percentage of time:
50%-performance of experiments
25%-general lab maintenance
25% -organization and maintenance of animal colony
This is a fixed term position.

Minimum Experience: 2 years
Minimum Field of Expertise: Working knowledge of laboratory equipment and research protocols. Knowledge of computer analysis techniques and ability to provide routine analysis and interpretation of research data.
Provides general laboratory assistance to support research activities. Conducts research experiments in accordance with laboratory and safety protocols. Performs assignments which are non-routine and vary in complexity with minimal direction. Compiles data and computes results for a variety of research procedures, tests and techniques.
