Research Programmer I

Center for Economic & Social Research Los Angeles, California

This research programmer I position will works in a multidisciplinary environment in support of policy research on a wide range of issues. Provides programming support to research projects.

Design, code, test, debug, document and maintain complex programs

Participate in research projects. Contributes to research designs, and participates in the preparation of research papers

Use Stata or SAS to extract, clean, manage, and analyze data as a member of research project teams

Work with a team on helping manage data collection, conduct descriptive analysis, and create reports

• Acquire a strong understanding of research topics and a thorough knowledge of the data and programming efforts involved

• Ability to produce careful and detailoriented work

• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and strong analytic skills

• Excellent communication skills

• Basic understanding of statistical methods (regression, ANOVA, t­tests, etc.)


This is a one year fixed term position with the possibility of renewal. Minimum education: Master’s degree Combined work experience and education as equivalent Minimum Experience: 1year Education Requirements Major in economics, statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, quantitative social sciences, or related field required.
