Research Programmer I

Center for Economic and Social Research Los Angeles, California

This Research Programmer I position will works in a multidisciplinary environment in support of policy research on a wide range of issues and will provide programming support to research projects.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Design, code, test, debug, document and maintain complex programs
  • Participate in research projects. Contributes to research designs, and participates in the preparation of research papers
  • Use Stata or SAS to extract, clean, manage, and analyze data as a member of research project teams
  • Work with a team on helping manage data collection, conduct descriptive analysis, and create reports
  • Acquire a strong understanding of research topics and a thorough knowledge of the data and programming efforts involved
  • Ability to produce careful and detailoriented work
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and strong analytic skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic understanding of statistical methods (regression, ANOVA, t­tests, etc.)

This is a grant funded position.


Minimum education: Masters degree. Combined work experience and education as equivalent

Minimum Experience: 1 year

Major in economics, statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, quantitative social sciences, or related field required.
