The Scheduler greets patients and visitors in a courteous manner while maintaining adequate workflow at the front desk. This position performs general clerical and communication functions in the Clinic including but not limited to answering phones, authorization request, scheduling follow-up visits and diagnostic testing. Works with any and every provider in the Clinic.

This position reviews new patient referrals/ authorizations for appropriate coding. The Scheduler performs new patient registration, insurance verification, check-in and out functions in the front desk. The Scheduler ensures that orders for diagnostic testing have been entered in the system and reviews insurance for appropriate scheduling. This position communicates with Authorization Specialist in the Clinic and Pre-Arrival Unit to secure authorization/pre-certification for diagnostic testing.

Minimum Education: • High School Graduate or GED equivalent Minimum Experience/Knowledge: • 1-year experience in front desk, concierge, preferably in a healthcare admitting department. • Proficient basic computer skills and knowledge in Microsoft Office. • Excellent customer service skills. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Excellent organizational skills. • Preferred: Basic knowledge of health care terminology. Required License/Certification: • Fire and Safety Certification. If employee does not have card upon hire one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
