Senior Research Associate

Preventive Medicine Los Angeles, California

The Department of Preventive Medicine is recruiting a Senior Research Associate. Working with Adam Leventhal, PhD and other Center investigators, the Senior Research Associate will be instrumental in aiding the successful execution of projects examining the role of tobacco product policies, marketing, product characteristics, and other factors in tobacco product use and other outcomes across the lifespan.  This position involves contributing to all aspects of the research process, especially: (a) managing and analyzing data; (b) supporting, collaborating, and leading manuscripts, (c) collecting and coding tobacco policy documents; (d) supervising trainees and junior staff, (e) assisting with grant proposal development; (f) providing complementary scientific oversight of study design, startup, and day-to-day data collection operations for ongoing funded projects;.  Ideal candidates will have completed postdoctoral training in tobacco regulatory science or a related discipline, outstanding writing ability, excellent data analytic and management skills, and an ability to contribute to and thrive in a team-oriented environment that values collaboration.  The Senior Research Associate is a staff scholar position; candidates are not expected to have an interest in pursuing a faculty position.

USC-TCORS is a multi-disciplinary group of faculty, postdoctoral, and graduate student interested in the intersection of tobacco products with populations. USC-TCORS conducts research on the use and health effects of specific e-cigarette products across populations. The team studies e-cigarette product characteristics and marketing approaches hypothesized to increase tobacco product attraction, use, and addiction in youth and young adults. USC-TCORS is housed within the Keck School of Medicine of USC’s Department of Preventive Medicine, which administers a Ph.D. program in health behavior research.

Minimum Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate Minimum Experience: 3 years Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related education and experience in research specialization with advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures, analysis methods, principles, theories and concepts.
