Special Project Manager

Dental Public Health Los Angeles, California

This is a full time, 9-months fixed term position with the possibility of becoming permanent.

The Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC has strategically established clinics at a number of locations throughout Los Angeles. By partnering with existing facilities for already providing services to the homeless, elderly and medically compromised, Ostrow makes comprehensive oral health care attainable for individuals who would otherwise lack the financial means or whose medical conditions might make it difficult to receive treatment. To better serve this population, the Ostrow School opened the Special Patients Clinic — recently named the Dr. Roseann Mulligan Special Patients Clinic — in 1985. In this clinic’s operatories, patients are provided care based on their specific needs.

The Dental Public Health division at USC is seeking a mission-driven Special Project Manager who will provide a full range of administrative and financial tasks for the division. The Special Project Manager will participate with Principal Investigators in the preparation of the administrative components of URM. L.A. County DHSP HIV grant, and other grants as needed. Responsibilities include but not limited to: develops, prepares, and finalizes project budgets, reports, and audit documents; serve as the primary liaison and actively partner between P.I., grant providers, and other departments; ensures awards are set up properly and grant requirements are met; reviews and approves expenditures; and supervises staff performing grant duties.

The Special Project Manager will also be supporting the efforts of USC+URM dental clinics, including preparing reports for funders, monthly  board meetings, chart audits, homeless outreach, identifying funding sources, and preparing grants. Additional responsibilities include: gathers and organizes data for special projects; prepares status reports on project plans; ensures completeness and accuracy of the documents for submission to division for review; assists formation of ad hoc committee and monitors progress; and serves as key resource for project information. 

The successful candidate should possess excellent verbal, communication, written, and reporting skills; strong budgeting and Excel knowledge. The ideal candidate is a master in multi-tasking and has strong leadership and team management skills who thrives in a dynamic work environment.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree
Minimum Experience: 5 years
Minimum Field of Expertise: Administrative or project administration experience.
