Sr. Compensation Analyst

Compensation Los Angeles, California

USC's Human Resources Compensation department is seeking an experienced Sr. Compensation Analyst who will be responsible for assisting management in the administration and implementation of staff compensation programs, guidelines, and practices. This role is a primary conduit for the rollout of compensation initiatives, and works closely with Human Resources and university department/school partners on compensation-related matters.

Specific Job Accountabilities include:

  • Consult with HR Partners in schools/departments on a variety of compensation matters including assessment of appropriate job classification, pay, job content and job structures
  • Perform job assessments and provide appropriate market benchmark data for new jobs created as a result of job reviews; offer guidance to partners on organizational impact when job changes occur
  • Advise on appropriate job structure; provide input to job content, leveling, and placement in desired organization structure
  • Assess compensation requests, and analyze data to ensure regulatory compliance requirements are met
  • Review and approve job and compensation change requests in Workday HR system
  • Provide training/coaching to HR partners on a variety of compensation-related matters
  • Participate in market survey data management
  • Review and keep benchmark data current in market pricing system

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years’ experience in compensation administration
  • Thorough knowledge of compensation principles, methodologies, and wage and hour regulations
  • Experience providing guidance and recommendations related to compensation matters
  • Skilled in analyzing and evaluating job content and writing accurate job descriptions
  • Able to work effectively as a partner within HR teams on compensation-related matters
  • Ability to set and manage priorities in diverse environments
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical, client service, and critical thinking skills
  • Must be detail oriented, and able to identify and solve problems creatively
  • Exhibit interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interface and communicate with others
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) a strong plus
