IT Category Manager – USC Strategic Sourcing

Our Strategic Sourcing team at USC is growing!  The IT Category Manager will be focused on driving sourcing activities and initiatives across the university in the IT category.  You will partner with senior leadership on category strategy development and critical supplier management, and lead sourcing initiatives and implementation activities to drive total cost savings/improvement while ensuring initiatives achieve value without compromising business strategy and performance.

Your focus will be on these strategic initiatives:

Category Management: develop an understanding of the sourcing categories and supply markets; help determine preferred suppliers; utilize cost reduction, risk mitigation, and value optimization strategies; lead mid-range to high-dollar RFI, RFP, and RFQ processes.  Partner with internal customers and key stakeholders to ensure preferred suppliers and category strategies meet current and future business needs

Supplier Management: establish and track key performance indicators that will drive continuous improvement across categories and suppliers; meet with strategic suppliers to review performance and develop expectations; oversee supplier contract compliance program

Leadership: provide leadership and guidance to the department/division and other university team members

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • 10 years of directly related experience

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree

Minimum Experience: 7 years

Minimum Field of Expertise: Experience in negotiating complex supplier agreements, data analytics, and supplier performance management. Experience in developing category strategies and developing and administering RFx processes for Information Technology spend areas. Possess strong written and verbal communications and presentation skills. Possess team leadership or management experience. Understand business law, legal contracts and financial analysis.
