Systems Administrator I

USC Institute for Neuroimaging and Informatics Los Angeles, California

The Laboratory of Neuro Imaging (, part of the USC Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, is seeking a qualified Systems Administrator I to join its team. This position works with minimum supervision to customize and maintain a multi-platform system configuration, ensuring efficiency and security. Troubleshoots problems reported by users and/or by automated network monitoring systems. Monitors and adjusts the performance of existing networks and continually evaluates the current environment to help determine future network needs. Coordinates installations, replacements and upgrades of servers and operating systems with operations staff, technical support staff and department users. Designs, programs and/or installs tools to help manage systems and application environment.

Required Skills:

Strong familiarity with command line Linux, Centos, Redhat, and Ubuntu. Familiarity with Bash scripting, Microsoft Active Directory management, Microsoft Exchange management experience, Exchange 2013 preferred, desktop support involving Windows, OSX, Linux GUI, and basic knowledge of networking fundamentals; Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with SGE or other job schedulers; Data backup and recovery; Languages: C, C++, Ruby, Perl, Java; Experience managing clustered storage solutions such as NetApp, Isilon, etc.; ESX/ESXi management with emphasis on 5.0+; Experience with Cisco Nexus and UCS equipment; Experience with Cisco Adaptive Security Appliances (ASA's); Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory GPO management and creation; Experience setting up and deploying from Puppet/Chef/CFEngine; Management of Apache and Tomcat.

High Performance Computing management or Network Engineer
