The full-time Program Administrator assigned to USC Civic Engagement will be an Exempt USC employee. In accordance with this designation, the Program Administrator will devote him/herself to the strategic planning, development, organization and delivery of services and activities specific to the mission of Civic Engagement at the USC University Park and Health Science Campuses.
The responsibilities of the Program Administrator include but are not limited to the following:
Develop and implement community outreach strategies for neighborhoods surrounding the UPC and HSC. This includes close coordination with existing outreach efforts, effectively working with community-based organizations, business leaders and local schools to maintain positive relationships, develop new partnerships and evaluation of programs in terms of strategic focus, cost and impact; and
Provides professional and administrative services in support of the activities of Civic Engagement at the UPC and HSC. Assists in program management with administrative functions covering planning, budgeting, proposal development, documentation, and marketing of program services; and
Assists in the testing and evaluation of program content and services. Recommends and implements modifications necessary to ensure achievement of program goals and objectives; and
Researches and identifies community needs and recommends program modifications or creation of new programs and services. Assists in the design and delivery of strategic community outreach efforts, educational collaborations and special events (e.g. community health and science fairs, professional convenings and college student conferences); and
Represents USC Civic Engagement on University committees as requested; and
Coordinates and acts as a Civic Engagement liaison to University and community community-based organizations, business associations, non-government organizations and other established alliances, collaborations for the purpose of strategic collaboration and supporting the mission and vision of the University; and
Provides leadership, guidance and supervision to student workers, volunteers, and/or graduate assistants. Serves as program/project lead as well as works with Civic Engagement colleagues as needed in the planning and delivery of programs, activities and special events. Develops and conducts program-focused training and assess proficiency or readiness of trainees; and
Interfaces with faculty researchers and staff on committee work or information exchange regarding program services or content; and
Researches the market and develops communications and marketing strategies to promote projects/programs and create visibility for Civic Engagement initiatives. Creates information materials and plans activities and events to support communications and marketing strategies; and
Participates in the development and implementation of program policies and procedures; and
Documents successful program implementation including proposing content to internal and external communications/media; and
Assists in program fundraising and developmental efforts. Researches and identifies funding sources. Contributes to proposal development by writing proposals or coordinating the input of others. Attends events to network on behalf of program services; and
Provides historical data and projections for use in developing program budgets. Assists with overall budget administration; and
Stays informed of developments in the field. Reads pertinent literature, attends meetings, and participates in professional association as appropriate. Establishes and maintains an active network of professional contacts; and
Assist local organizations with planning of health resource events and respond to special requests. Represents the University with local chambers of commerce, serve on board of directors of leading organizations; and
Performs other duties as assigned or requested by the Vice President, Civic Engagement at the UPC and/or the HSC.
Preferred Education: Master’s degree
Preferred Experience: 3 Years
Preferred Field of Expertise: Special education, licensing or certification requirements may exist based on program content.
